AIRLINE PILOTS' GUILD OF SRI LANKA

ABOUT ALPGSL

"A Group with a Common Passion"

Sri Lanka, then known as Ceylon, was one of the first countries to take to the skies and embrace civil aviation in the region. Air Ceylon was Sri Lanka’s first airline and took to the skies in 1947. From that day onwards, aviation in our island nation has continued to evolve, taking the National flag carrier to destinations across the globe.

Founded in 1977 as a non-profit organization, the ALPGSL represents over 300 active commercial pilots. The nature of the job, although sometimes perceived as glamorous, comes with a great deal of responsibility - each pilot being accountable for the safety of every life that they carrying on their aircraft. Flying international schedules at all hours of the day and constantly changing time zones compel us to subject our bodies and minds to immense stress and fatigue. The challenging nature of aviation involves a constant study, focus, and drive and we take pride in representing this group of professionals in our country.
